Homer Alaska Fishing
While fishing out of Homer Alaska aboard our 34-foot charter boat Red Ryder, you will be guided by fun and highly experienced captains and crew. Red Ryder exceeds industry safety standards, is outfitted with premium fishing tackle and features amenities such as a large heated cabin and a private head (restroom). Focusing on quality fish, our captains and crew are highly dedicated to providing a safe, fun and productive fishing experience. There's no doubt our Homer fishing charters are among the most unique, fun-filled and action-packed saltwater fishing trips available anywhere in Alaska!
Long Range Multi-Species Fishing Trips
Often referred to as the "Grand Slam" or "Ultimate Combo", long range multi-species fishing trips are our specialty (and our most popular saltwater fishing trip). While fishing the Gulf of Alaska aboard Red Ryder, you will have the opportunity to catch halibut, lingcod, yelloweye rockfish and black rockfish. Silver salmon (coho salmon) and king salmon (chinook salmon) may also be caught if time allows and the opportunity exists.
Anglers choose this trip, because it's both exciting and productive. We never anchor, which enables us to quickly target a variety of fish habitats and tides. This technique allows us to target individual species and typically results in plenty of action and lots fish!
This fishing trip is available starting July 1, which is the lingcod season opener.
While the legal lingcod limit is two per person, their populations are declining, so along with most of the charter fleet, we are currently limiting our lingcod harvest to one per person. To further conserve these populations, we also prefer to photograph and release large spawners.
Homer Alaska Fishing Video- Lingcod, Halibut & Rockfish
Clients join captain John and deckhand Kevin aboard the Red Ryder on a long range multi-species fishing trip to the Gulf of Alaska. It was an incredibly calm day on the ocean. We had lots of fun and caught plenty of halibut, lingcod and rockfish!
Halibut, Salmon & Rockfish Combo Trips
While king salmon are available year-round, combo fishing charters targeting both halibut and kings are popular during May and June. Silver salmon are typically available from late July though early September. We generally employ our unique drift-only techniques using artificial lures while fishing halibut. Typically using bait, we troll, mooch or jig for salmon.
We offer halibut, salmon & rockfish combos all season!
Halibut Fishing Trips
Halibut-only fishing trips out of Homer are available all season. While we typically fish Cook Inlet waters during halibut-only fishing trips, we will take you to the best halibut fishing locations.
We offer halibut fishing trips all season!
